Langkawi : Things That You Should Try When You Are Here!

Surrounded by turquoise sea, Langkawi or well known as the Jewel of Kedah located northwest off the coast of Kedah. Journey to the island will took approximately 1.5 hours form Kuala Kedah Jetty.

Recognised for its excellent diving opportunity, there are a lot of activities and hidden gem that you can experienced here. Apart from that, Langkawi is considered the best-known and popular beach destinations in the country.

1. Langkawi Sky Bridge

Langkawi Sky Bridge is a 125 metre-long curved pedestrian bridge that offers majestic (and sometimes terrifying) view of Gunung Machinchang, Telaga Tujuh waterfalls, and several islets surrounding Langkawi.

This sturdy bridge can accommodate up to 250 people at a time, and is fitted with double steel railings, an enclosed wire mesh, and two triangular platforms where you can relax and enjoy the cool breeze.

2. Underwater World Langkawi

Underwater World Langkawi houses more than 500 species of sea creatures, the highlights is a walkthrough underwater tunnel where you can enjoy various species of sharks, turtle and stingrays.

 

3. Gunung Raya

If you love nature or want to catch a beautiful panorama of a stunning sunset then Gunung Raya is the most ideal place. With an altitude of 881 metres, this is the highest peak in Langkawi.

Besides, the dense rainforest is a natural habitat for numbers of wildlife such as flying foxes, macaque, eagle and hornbills. Gunung Raya is also popular among hikers but the trail can be challenging for beginner and bringing a guide is very adviseable.

 

4. Pulau Payar Marine Park

Located 30km south of Langkawi Island, Pulau Payar Marine Park is a good spot for snorkeling as well as diving. The best feature here is the Coral Garden.

Although you will need a permission before exploring the park, you alternatively can sign up with a tour which usually will include all the snorkeling gear and lunch.

 

5. Birdwatching

Besides all the beautiful beaches, Langkawi is also well-known of its flourishing natural habitat of birds.

Approximately, there are 230 species of birds that reside across its wetlands, mangroves and rainforest. Among interesting birds here are 3 species of horn bill, 8 species of kingfishers, 20 birds of prey.
